Ten year old Jude is a die hard baseball fan. He loves everything about this favorite American pastime- the passionate team rivalries, the triumphant homeruns, the shared comradery amongst players and fans. Most importantly, when Jude is watching a game or talking about the latest stats he memorized, he feels just like a normal kid.

Having something like baseball to hold onto is critical for Jude, as he has experienced significant abuse and neglect and was placed into foster care. And while his foster parents provide a safe and loving place for him to thrive, there are times he just wants to feel like a normal kid.

There are thousands more youth in care who feel the same way in our communities. They just want a chance to be a kid and do normal things kids love doing- like riding a bike with friends, playing sports or learning how to play the piano.

These activities are costly, and not all foster families can afford them. That is why The Center for Youth and Family Solutions created the Just Like Me project. This fund is designed to provide activities and enrichment for children in foster care so that they feel a sense of normalcy.

The Just Like Me fund is how Jude was able to go to his first professional baseball game last year with his foster dad; a day he says he will never forget.
